The Fifty Club was composed of 50 prominent Minneapolis couples whose average age (of each couple) did not exceed 50. It was founded in 1926 by a committee of 11 women, most of whom were daughters and daughters-in-law of the hostesses of the old Hostess Balls, which were a major social event pre-WWI during which many debutantes were presented. The Fifty Club hosted two parties annually, in December and February. The December 1928 ball, pictured above, was circus themed. The club continued for at least another 50 years.
